Cuan Beo Native Oyster Heritage

The Cuan Beo Native Oyster Heritage project in association with The Heritage Council made some great progress during Cruinniú na mBad 2018 with fascinating accounts and information collected by our local historian Mr. Joe Murphy. The poster attracted a great response.
If anyone has any information relating to the heritage of the native oyster fisheries in Galway Bay, please do get in touch with Joe on 086 385 8536. One of our missions is to collect enough artifacts, information and spoken accounts to create an native oyster museum or interpretative centre in the region and share this amazing story spanning more than 4000 years!

Diarmuid Kelly (Cuan Beo), Colm O’Dowd (Cuan Beo), Joe Murphy (local historian who is conducting the Heritage Council project research), and Prof Noel Wilkins (Emeritus Professor at NUI Galway)
