Cuan Beo is hosting a Free Oyster Tasting Workshop at the Clarinbridge Oyster Festival Marquee as part of their Official Launch next Thursday evening (October 5th ) from 5.30pm.
 Please see the flier attached.

The event is free and all are welcome. Chef Niall Sabongi (KLAW Restaurant Dublin) will help you appreciate the taste difference between oysters from many of the native oyster fisheries in Ireland. Like ‘terroir’ but more watery, ‘meroir’ refers to the flavours imparted by the different areas of the sea. Every oyster is influenced by its marine surroundings. Even within Galway Bay different oyster beds are known to have different qualities. If you are interested in meeting the connoisseurs of the Irish oyster world then where better than Clarinbridge – the Home of the Oyster?

If tasting oysters is not your thing, then learn about their importance to maritime communities throughout the ages when Marine Archaeologist Michael Gibbons will take you on a journey of the oyster from pre-history to about 1700, with specific references to maritime history and heritage in Galway Bay and the West Coast of Ireland.

I and the Cuan Beo team are looking forward to meeting you all there.
