Applications are invited for the post of Oyster Fishery Restoration Officer to work with Cuan Beo and its partners on the Galway Bay trial area as part of the ForCoast project The person appointed will be responsible for supporting the oyster restoration activities carried out by Cuan Beo and will work in close collaboration with our local partner, the Marine Institute and with the local community, community groups, local agencies and academics with an interest in water quality in Galway Bay.
Inner Galway Bay is a case study within FORCOAST. ( https://forcoast.eu/ ) The Marine Institute will develop a high-resolution circulation model and other modelling services for the case study. Part of the project officer’s responsibility will be to acquire new data and compile existing salinity, temperature and freshwater flow rate data for model validation. The output of these models will be provided on a platform/interface that will be used by oyster farmers and fishermen in Galway Bay. The officer will publicise the platform and liaise with local groups on their user requirements.
